Lakehawk Women’s Golf Take 15th at Snead State Invite
UNION GROVE, Ala. (Women's Golf) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) women's golf team traveled to Alabama for 2025 Snead State Fall Invitational, their final tournament of the fall season. The Lakehawks finished 15th of 18 teams, showing significant improvement as the season has progressed.
Held at Cherokee Ridge Country Club, the tournament presented new and challenging elevation changes to the young Lakheawk squad.
The course tested the team with narrow fairways and steep lies throughout round one. Freshman Wies Bouwma and Lillian Dunn led the way for the team, each carding a 97 (+25) in the opening round.
After day one, the team entered the final round on Tuesday in 13th place.
Into the final round, the team delivered their strongest performance of the season. Bouwma and Alexis Westbay led the charge for the Lakehawks.
Bouwma posted a solid round of 92 (+20) while Westbay followed closely with a 95 (+23), both navigating gusting winds and challenging lies.
The Lakehawk coaching staff shared their thoughts, "Turning in our best performance of the season in these conditions really speaks to the grit and growth of our team. We are proud of how the players battled and look forward to carrying this momentum into the spring."
This tournament concludes Lakehawk golf's fall season. Lakehawk fans stay tuned for the women's golf spring schedule to be announced closer to the spring season.
