Lakehawk Athletics Names Justus Perry Head Softball Coach

LEESBURG, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Athletics announces the hiring of Justus Perry as the ninth head coach of the Lakehawk softball program.

Perry got her start coaching at the collegiate level at St. Catherine University and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. At Swarthmore, she helped coach the Garnet to a pair of conference titles.

Perry expressed her enthusiasm towards joining the program at Lake-Sumter, "I am incredibly excited for this amazing opportunity."

"The second I met with faculty and Coach Miller, I knew this place and these people were so special. I am honored to be a part of a storied program that has been led with so much passion and love."

Prior to coaching, the Minesota native played collegiate softball at Auburn University. After five seasons and over 200 games in a Tiger uniform, she went on to play professional softball in Australia and for the Women's Professional Fastpitch League in Texas.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn with a pair of bachelor's degrees in law and justice and Spanish with a minor in Psychology before earning her master's degree in organizational leadership.

"We are confident she will help build on the strong foundation of our softball program while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our student-athletes and setting the stage for continued success."

Athletic Director Jay Miller added, "Throughout the interview process I got to know and understand Justus and where her passion for this game comes from… I truly believe Justus will bring a new energy to this program and take it to the next level."

Perry will officially transition into her head coaching role in July prior to the upcoming fall season. Stay tuned for the fall softball schedule and first look at the 2026-27 Lakehawk Softball team.
