Lakehawk Softball Releases 2026 Schedule
The Lakahawks have a 56-game schedule, including 17 home dates
LEESBURG, Fla. (Softball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball team has released their schedule for the upcoming 2026 season. The Lakehawks have locked in a 56-game schedule, including 17 home dates.
Lake-Sumter finished the 2025 season with a 39-17 record, the third consecutive 30+ win season. The Lakehawks took second at the regional championship, narrowly missing a trip to the national championship.
The Lakehawks return eight sophomores for the 2026 season. Infielders Emma Christensen and Malayla Miller are the only two returning starters from last season.
Christensen posted a .377 batting average, .407 on-base percentage, and a .591 slugging percentage. In 154 at bats, she had 58 hits with 45 RBIs and eight homeruns.
Christensen was also named to the 2025 All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8 Team and the All-Sun-Lakes Conference First Team as an infielder.
Malayla Miller, a sophomore infielder, returns with 41 games under her belt. She posted a .373 batting average, .417 on-base percentage, and a .464 slugging percentage.
The Lakehawks will open their 2026 campaign with a double header at home against Hillsborough College at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23. Lake-Sumter will play non-conference games in January until late February to prepare for a highly competitive Sun-Lakes Conference regular season schedule.
LSSC will begin conference play at home against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) on Friday, Feb. 20 at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. On Saturday, Lake-Sumter and FSCJ will be back in Jacksonville, Fla. for the series finale.
The Sun-Lakes Conference consists of six teams: Florida Gateway College, FSCJ, Pasco-Hernando State College, South Florida State College, State College of Florida, St. Johns River State College (SJRSC), and LSSC. In conference play, teams will play each opponent five times, a three-game series and a double header.
After a 30-game conference slate, the top-four teams will compete in the 2026 Florida College System Activities Association (FSCAA) DII Softball Championship from April 30 – May 2. The championship will be hosted by SJRSC at Viking Field in Palatka, Fla.
All Lakehawk home games will be played on Mike Matulia Field at J. Carlisle Rogers Stadium. The games will be livestreamed free of charge and can be accessed at Team 1 Sports: College.
