Bak, Ellis Named Region 8 Softball Players of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Lakehawk Softball sweeps the weekly awards with Amy Bak and Savannah Ellis being named the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week for their performances in the week of Apr. 14 – 20. Bak and Ellis both earn the honor for the second time this season.
Amy Bak – Pitcher of the Week
Bak tossed her eighth complete-game of the season in game one against Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) on Friday afternoon. In her fifth shutout of the season, she allowed just four hits, no walks with a pair of strikeouts.
For the season, Bak has been a force on the mound for the Lakehawks boasting a 12-4 record. In 115.1 innings pitched, she maintains a 2.12 ERA with 78 strikeouts and 113 hits, 38 walks for a 1.31 WHIP.
Savannah Ellis – Player of the Week
The Lakehawks had a light game week nearing the end of the season only playing conference opponents, but Ellis still made quite an impact for the team offensively.
In two games against PHSC, she hit 4-for-7, a .571 batting average, with one double and one RBI. In game one, she went 2-for-4 with an RBI and in game two had two hits with a double and a walk.
For the season, Ellis maintains a .344 batting average, .393 on-base percentage, and .425 slugging percentage. In 160 at bats, she has 55 hits with 35 RBIs and 32 walks with just nine strikeouts.
Head Coach Jay Miller shared his thoughts, "Both of these ladies have made a huge impact on our season so far. To see them both get recognized in teh same week is a testament to their impact on the field."
Bak and Ellis now look ahead with the Lakehawks to the 2025 FCSAA DII Softball Championship on May 1-3 in Palatka, Fla. Lake-Sumter will enter the championship as the #2 seed and are set to face the #3 seed Pasco-Hernando in the opening round.
