BRADENTON, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball recorded three straight mercy rule wins over State College of Florida (SCF) in Sun-Lakes Conference play to continue their win-streak. The Lakehawks outscored the Manatees 34-7 for the series.
Game One – Lake-Sumter 9, SCF 1 (5 innings)
Macie Bourgholtzer went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Emma Chisholm and Emma Christensen had two RBIs each.
Amy Bak recorded the complete-game win improving to 11-2 on the season. In 5.0 innings pitched, she allowed just two hits and two walks while fanning eight.
Game Two – Lake-Sumter 11, SCF 3 (5 innings)
Six Lakehawks had multiple hits in game two.
Sammi Thomas and Savannah Ellis both went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Nicol Werking went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Ellis recorded the complete-game win improving 8-4 on the season. With 5.0 innings pitched, she allowed three runs, one earned, on five hits with four strikeouts.
Game Three – Lake-Sumter 14, SCF 3 (5 innings)
Thomas, Chisholm, Christensen each had three hits in game three. Christensen with 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Chisholm had two RBIs and two runs scored. Ellis also added three RBIs in the win.
Kaitlyn Duquette took the mound in game three to record her ninth win of the season. In 5.0 innings pitched, she allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
The Lakehawks will begin the second round of regular season conference play on Tuesday, Apr. 8 against Florida State College at Jacksonville at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
