PREVIEW: Lakehawk Track & Field Returns to NJCAA Championships
HOBBS, N.M. (Track & Field) – the Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Track & Field teams return to the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) DI Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships for their second year in a row. The team's travel with a program-high 13 student-athletes across eight different events.
Lakehawks to Watch
Javelin thrower Judson Nichols-Webb has been a consistent top competitor this season for the Lakehawks. With three top-five finishes this season and a personal record (PR) of 62.57m, he ranks eighth nationally leading up to Thursday's trials and finals.
Spencer Palmer, a two-year leader for the squad, is a three-event qualifier for this year's national championship. He qualified and competed last year as a freshman in the 800m and took 14th in the event.
Oksanna Smith enters the 400m Hurdles prelims on Friday ranking sixth nationally with a PR of 1:00.97 in the event and looking to break the one-minute barrier this weekend.
Long Jumper Jaden Miller also makes her second appearance at the NJCAA Championships; she took 14th in the long jump last year with a mark of 5.15m. She enters this year's championship with a current PR of 5.88m.
