Lakehawk Men’s Golf Five Shots from Lead at Pioneers Invite
GAFFNEY, S.C. (Men's Golf) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) men's golf team delivered a gritty performance in round one of the Pioneers Invitational, enduring some of the toughest conditions they're faced this season. Monday's round was played in temperatures only reaching the high 30s, with winds exceeding 20 mph, creating a true test of resilience and shot-making.
The Lakehawks currently sit in sixth out of 15 teams, just five shots off the overall lead, keeping the team firmly in contention heading into the next round.
Tripp Watkins continues to lead the way for the Lakehawks carding a 76 (+4) in the challenging conditions. He sits in eighth individually, just three shots behind the lead.
Nate Williams followed with a 78 and Kylan Johnson added a 79 to round of the team's top scores. The strong team showing places three Lakehawks within the top-20 in individual standings.
