Lakehawk Baseball Finishes Second at FCSAA Championship
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Baseball finished second at the 2026 Florida State College Activities Association (FCSAA) Division II Baseball Championship after battling back from their first-round loss to Palm Beach State College. The Lakehawks lost to the reigning FCSAA and national champions Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The championship game was played across two days due to bad weather that rolled in after the Lakehawks' semifinal win against Palm Beach State.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the first. A solo homerun in the third gave Pasco-Hernando a two-run lead in the top of the third right before the rain came suspending the game.
The game resumed on Sunday morning in the bottom of the third inning. The Lakehawks were held scoreless until the fifth.
Noah Morales legged out an infield double after the wind took a high pop fly away from the Bobcat's shortstop. Mason Blackburn connected for the Lakehawk's second hit of the game to score Morales from second.
Lake-Sumter scattered four more hits in the remaining innings but were unable to find a way to score and force the "if necessary" game seven.
Starting pitcher Theo Decicco earned the loss with three innings pitched. After the first three innings on Saturday, the Lakehawk pitching staff came back on Sunday to complete the game and allowed just one run to score on two hits.
Wyatt Strawbridge pitched four innings. He allowed one run on one hit. Ryan Kulikowski, Josiah Haslem, and Ethon Tesmer combined for one hit and one walk in the final two innings.
Morales, Alex Galan, and Bruno Vazquez were named to the FCSAA All-Tournament Team.
Morales went 5-for-14 with nine RBIs, five runs scored and two homeruns. Galan went 6-for-17 with seven runs scored, three RBIs, and two homeruns.
Vazquez went 3-for-6 with three RBIs, two runs scored, three walks and one homerun.
The Lakehawks now await an at-large bid to the 2026 NJCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Enid, Oklahoma beginning May 23. The selection show does not have a set date and time to be aired yet.
