TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team traveled up to Florida's capital for games against Tallahassee State College (TSC) and South Georgia State College (SGSC). The Lakehawks picked up one win over Tallahassee State on Friday night.
Lake-Sumter 5, Tallassee State 3
The Lakehawks picked up their only win of the weekend on Friday night against TSC. The Lakehawks scored five runs on seven hits.
Alex Galan went 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored. Yelserth Ayala also recorded two hits with a walk and two runs scored.
The Lakehawk pitching staff teamed up to take down the Eagle offense holding them to just three runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts.
Starting pitcher Jack Johnson picked up the win with 5.0 innings pitched improving to 2-1 on the season. Ryan Kulikowski recorded his first save after pitching the final Eagle at bat.
Lake-Sumter 2, Tallahassee State 7
The Lakehawk offense was held to a minimum on Saturday morning with just six hits on two runs scored.
Mason Blackburn went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Brady Byers, Thomas Velardi, Noah Morales, and Hayden Harrison each had one hit.
Starter Corey Peters took his first loss of the season with 3.0 innings pitched after allowing three runs on six hits.
Lake-Sumter 2, South Georgia State 4
The Lakehawks took their second loss of the day against the South Georgia State Hawks; Lake-Sumter held to just two runs on five hits.
Morales went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Byers, Blackburn, and Ayala accounted for the other three Lakehawk hits.
Jacob James was effective on the mound but ultimately recorded his second loss of the season after throwing 6.0 innings. He had six strikeouts.
Wyatt Strawbridge pitched one shutout inning to close out the seventh.
Lake-Sumter moves to 8-7 on the season ahead of a five-game week.
The Lakehawks will be back at home on Monday, Feb. 16 at 2:00 p.m. against CCBC Catonsville. The livestream can be accessed here.
