Lakehawk Baseball Walks Off CCBC Catonsville
LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted CCBC Catonsville on Monday afternoon for a single non-conference game. In a back-and-forth battle against the Cardinals, a grand slam from Hunter Wallace in the bottom of the ninth secured another walk off win for the Lakehawks.
Lake-Sumter took the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the second after loading the bases. A sac fly and a groundball to the right side of the field scored Hayden Harrison and Mason Blackburn to take the lead.
The Lakehawks added three more in the third. Basehits from Noah Morales, Harrison, and Blackburn scored two.
With the bases loaded, Brady Byers was hit by a pitch to score Blackburn.
Catonsville cut the lead with a grand slam in the fourth. Lake-Sumter added runs in the sixth and seventh before Catonsville scored five taking the lead 9-8 in the top of the eighth.
The Cardinals added two more to the board in the ninth, leading the Lakehawks 11-8 going into the bottom of the ninth.
Blackburn and Yelserth Ayala led the inning off with singles. Robert Kohler drew a walk to load the bases.
Wallace, with no outs and a strike against him, blasted a no-doubter over the left field wall to win the game for the Lakehawks.
Ryan Kulikowski recorded his first win of the season on the mound after closing out the ninth inning. He faced three batters and struck out two.
The Lakehawks move to 9-7 on the year. The Cardinals move to 0-3, still in search of their first win.
Lake-Sumter will be on the road Wednesday against Santa Fe. The game can be streamed here.
