LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball defeated Seminole State in thrilling come-from-behind fashion on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind 11-4 early in the game, the Lakehawks found a way to come back and walk off the game 12-11 in the bottom of the ninth.
In the bottom of the ninth, Yelserth Ayala made it on base after forcing an infield error. Cam Carpenter moved Ayala to second with a sacrifice bunt.
Noah Morales entered the game to pinch hit and launched the first pitch thrown over the left field foul pole to walkoff the game for the Lakehawks 12-11.
The Lakehawks improved to 7-5 on the season, Seminole State moves to 9-3.
Brady Byers went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored. Carpenter went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Austin MacCardle recorded his first win of the season on the mound with the final two innings pitched. He held the Raiders to no runs and no hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Lakehawks will travel up to Tallahassee, Fla. this weekend for a series with Tallahassee State College and South Georgia State College on Friday and Saturday. Games can be watched here.
