Lakehawk Baseball Edged Out by Pasco-Hernando at Region Championship
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Baseball lost to the top seeded Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) in the opening round of the 2025 FCSAA DII Baseball Championship on Thursday.
The Bobcats took an early 1-0 lead before the Lakehawks scored a pair of unearned runs to take the lead 2-1 in the top of the second inning. Pasco-Hernando added two runs in the bottom half of the second taking the lead back 3-2.
Pasco-Hernando extended their lead by one in the fourth with a pair of doubles. Singles from Ean Gimson and Eli Thurmond followed by a sacrifice fly from Camden Williamson brought the Lakehawks within one of the Bobcats.
The Lakehawks were unable to close the gap, ultimately falling to the Bobcats 4-3 in the opening round of the tournament.
Starting pitcher Jack Johnson recorded the loss with 6.0 innings pitched. Ethon Tesmer and Cristian Montes split time on the mound to close out the game.
Now in the loser's bracket, the Lakehawks will play to keep their season alive tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against St. Johns River State College. Friday's game will be livestreamed free of charge here.
