PREVIEW: Lakehawk Baseball vs No. 22 South Florida State

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball continues Sun-Lakes Conference play with No. 22 South Florida State College (SFSC).

The Lakehawks will travel to Avon Park, Fla. on Friday for a single game at 1:00 p.m. Teams will be in Leesburg, Fla. on Saturday for the double header at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.

This weekend marks the final home series for the Lakehawks for the 2025 season. On Saturday, beginning at 11:30 a.m., the team will honor their sophomores prior to the double header start.

SFSC comes into the series with a 13-11 conference record and tied for second in Sun-Lakes Conference standing with St. Johns River State College. The Panthers have only won two of their last six conference games; one win over Palm Beach State and one win over Florida State College at Jacksonville.

The Lakehawks enter the weekend with an 11-13 record in conference play and currently sitting in the fourth spot in conference standing.

At this time, Pasco-Hernando State College is the only team to have clinched a spot in the Region 8 Championship beginning May 1. Lake-Sumter hopes to earn a spot in the tournament for the first time since 2018.
