Lakehawk beavh volleyball alum Kaylin McCann joins the beach volleyball coaching staff in the fall of 2025 following her collegiete beach volleyball career at Truett McConnell University.
While at Lake-Sumter, McCann played an integral role in helping build a national competing program. As a freshman in 2022, the Lakehawks competed at the AVCA Small College Championships in Tavares, Fla. at Hickory Point. The team took second to the State College of Florida and finsihed the season with a 5-10 record.
As a sophomore in 2023, the program saw its first winning season finishing with a 13-11 record. Adding to the historical run, at the inagural FCSAA Beach Volleyball Championship, McCann was named to the 2023 All-FCSAA Pairs Team with partner Cassidy Rountree. The Lakehawks took second in the tournament and recieved an automatic bid to the inagural NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship.
At the NJCAA Championship, playing in the No. 2 pair, McCann and Rountree secured a pair of two-set wins helping the Lakehawks advance to the championship round. The Lakehawks took third after Region 8 opponents, Palm Beach State and St. Johns River.
McCann went on to play one more year of beach volleyball at TMU in Cleveland, Ga. becoming just the third Lakehawk from the program to continue playing at a four-year school. McCann helped the Bears achieve a third place finish at the 2024 AVCA Small College Beach Championships.
