Lakehawk Beach Volleyball Advances to Semifinal Match
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Beach Volleyball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Beach Volleyball advanced to the semifinal match on Saturday after two wins over State College of Florida (SCF) and Trinidad State on Friday.
The Lakehawks posted a huge upset over SCF in the final game of pool play. The 3-2 win over the Manatees put Lake-Sumter in the second seed position to drop SCF to the third seed.

Teams faced an additional challenge early in the day as afternoon thunderstorms rolled in. As Lake-Sumter and Trinidad State began their match, play was halted due to lightning in the area.
The 2:00 p.m. game was pushed to a 7:15 p.m. start. Battling steady rainfall and a near-20 degree drop in temperature, the Lakehawks found a 3-0 victory over the Trojans in the first round of the Championship bracket.

In the Championship Bracket, matches are played to decision. The four and five pairs were both halted in the third set.
The Lakehawks are set to play State College of Florida once again in the semifinal on Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. EST. The winner will advance to the Championship match against the winner between Palm Beach State and Mesa at 11:45 a.m.
