Lakehawk Men’s Cross Country, Volleyball Named FCSAA Academic Teams of the Year
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Athletics) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has announced the 2025-26 team academic awards. Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) had two teams recognized for both their academic excellence and success in competition.
This award marks the first time any Lakehawk team has received an honor of this level from the FCSAA.
Cross Country
Lakehawk Men's Cross Country earns 2025-26 FCSAA Male Academic Team of the Year for small teams (10 or less on the roster. The squad finished the year with a 3.26 GPA with one student-athlete earning a 4.00.
At this year's FCSAA Championship, the team took third place with two receiving All-FCSAA honors for finishing in the top-seven.
Beach Volleyball
Lakehawk Beach Volleyball was named the 2025-26 FCSAA Female Academic Team of the Year for large teams (11+ roster). In the classroom, the team finished the year with a GPA of 3.72 with four student-athletes coming in with a 4.0.
In competition, had the most successful season in the program's young history with a pair of runner up finishes at both the FCSAA Championship and the NJCAA Championship.
In addition to team success, the Lakehawks placed four on the NJCAA All-American list.

Lakehawk Cross Country will kick off the 2026-27 competition season in late August. Their national championship is set for Saturday, November 14 in Huntsville, Ala.
Lakehawk Beach Volleyball will use the fall to train for their season of competition which will begin in February of 2027. Thier spring schedule will be announced later in the fall.
