LEESBURG, Fla. (Athletics) – Lakehawk Athletics launched into their spring season last weekend. Here is a quick look at what happened and what's to come in the upcoming week.
Baseball
- Opened the season 2–1 against St. Petersburg College over the weekend
- Took down Tallahassee State College, 10–6, on Monday
- With cold weather moving in, the schedule has been updated:
- Jan. 30 - Doubleheader at Hillsborough College
- Jan. 31 - Single game at home vs. Hillsborough, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Men's Golf
- Finished 5th in their opening spring tournament that ended on Tuesday
- Tripp Watkins tied for 1st place (+3), the best individual performance in program history
- The team heads into a break before returning to competition at the end of February
Men's & Women's Indoor Track
- Opened their season at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center Invitational over the weekend
- Several athletes finished Top 10 and Top 5 in their respective events
- Jaden Miller placed 4th in the women's long jump (5.64m)
- Elijah Palmer finished 5th in the 1000m with a time of 2:32.13
- Teams will head back to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend for a two-day event
Softball
- Started the season 2–2, opening with two wins over Hillsborough College on Friday before falling to Seminole State College on Saturday
- Emmy Lee earned NJCAA Region 8 Pitcher of the Week honors
- Will host Gordon State College (Ga) in a four-game series beginning Friday at 11:00 a.m., Saturday's double header will also begin at 11:00 a.m.
- President Temple will throw out the first pitch prior to Friday's game
- On Saturday, the team will welcome back Amy Bak to receive her Rawlings Gold Glove Award and throw out the first pitch
