Lakehawk Athletics Celebrates Student-Athletes at The Hawkspys
LEESBURG, Fla. (Athletics) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Athletics celebrated the 2024-25 class of Lakehawk student-athletes at The Hawkspys. The Hawkspys is held each year to recognize the accomplishments of all student-athletes both on the field, court, and track and in the classroom.
There are eight major awards as well as various individual and team awards presented throughout the evening.

Players of the Year (Inaugural Award)
Awarded to one man and one woman from the above recipients. The recipients of this award are considered the most successful student-athlete department-wide regardless of sport or class.

Tyler Reichwein Award
Named for former baseball student-athlete Tyler Reichwein.
The recipient of this award is known as an "unsung hero" on their team. They are the teammate willing to do the little things and help out where they can in addition to always putting in the hard work on the field, court, or track.
Aiden Sustarsic, Baseball
Dr. Robert and Merrell Westrick Student-Athletes of the Year
Named for the former LSSC President, Dr. Robert Westrick and his wife Merrell. Dr. Westrick served as President from 1993-2002 and was instrumental in returning athletics to the College in the late 1990s.
The recipients of this award, one male and one female, are a well-rounded students, athletes, and individuals representing the College, the Athletic Department, and their team with pride, in the classroom, and through community service.
This award goes to a student-athlete in their sophomore year.
