PALATKA, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball recorded one win over No. 13 St. Johns River State College. The Lakehawks' win over the Vikings registered Coach Billings' 300th career-win as a collegiate head coach.
Game One – SJRSC 8, LSSC 3
Camden Williamson, Tad Brooks, and Ean Gimson each had two hits in game one. Edwin Melendez went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Starting pitcher Max Windham recorded the loss on the mound with three innings pitched. He allowed eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts.
Bryan Burtoft took the mound in relief of Windham. Throwing the final six innings, Burtoft held the Vikings to no runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
Game Two – LSSC 12, SJRSC 6
With a pair of five-run innings in the third and the sixth, the Lakehawks took the win in game two.
Mason Blackburn and Andrew Merchant each had two hits. Merchant recorded three RBIs, three runs scored and drew a walk.
Gimson went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and one walk.
Lakehawk pitchers Jack Johnson, Cristian Montes, and Elliot Sande all saw time on the mound.
Sande recorded the win improving to 5-1 on the second with three innings pitched. He allowed just one run on two hits with five strikeouts.
Game Three – SJRSC 7, LSSC 3
The Vikings secured the series with the game three win.
Matthew Dumas went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one walk. Williamson went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Starting pitcher Fabian Romero recorded the loss with four innings pitched moving to 4-2 on the season. He allowed four runs on eight hits with one strikeout.
Ricky O'Dette tossed two innings, allowing three runs on two hits. Corey Peters pitched the final two innings and held the Vikings scoreless on one hit.
Withone win over the Vikings, the Lakehawks move to 26-20 on the season and a 11-13 record in conference play. The Lakehawks remain in fourth in conference standing while the Vikings are in third with a 13-11 conference record.
The Lakehawks will be back in action in Sun-Lakes Conference action next weekend against South Florida State College.
