PREVIEW: Lakehawk Beach Volleyball at 2025 Region 8 Championship
BRADENTON, Fla. (Beach Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) beach volleyball team travels to Bradenton, Fla. for the 2025 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) / National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Beach Volleyball Championship beginning on Friday, April 18. The tournament is hosted at UMR Sports Complex in Bradenton, Fla. for the third consecutive year.
The bracket is in double elimination format beginning Friday afternoon and going through Saturday afternoon with the championship match set for 1:30 p.m. The Lakehawks enter the tournament as the third seed after #1 Palm Beach State College (PBSC) and #2 State College of Florida (SCF).
Lake-Sumter will open tournament play with the #2 seeded SCF on Friday at 2:00 p.m. In the regular season, SCF defeated the Lakehawks in both meetings, 4-1 and 3-2.
The #1 seeded PBSC enters the tournament with a perfect 7-0 record in conference play. In two regular season matchups, the Lakehawks fell to the Panthers twice, 5-0 and 3-2.
The tournament kicks off Friday morning with the first match between #1 Palm Beach State and #4 Florida State College at Jacksonville. #2 State College of Florida and #3 Lake-Sumter will follow at 2:00 p.m. for the first round of the championship.
Between the first two matches, the ceremony to present All-FCSAA awards will take place. There will be five all-State pairs, 10 all-State individuals, five first team and five second team, one Pair of the Year, and one Player of the Year.
The winners of the first two matches will play at 7:00 p.m. to advance to the Championship match on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Lake-Sumter's matches will be streamed at Team 1 Sports: College.
The first and second place finishing teams will receive automatic bids to the 2025 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship at John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala. from May 1-3. In addition to the two automatic bids, there are four at-large bids left to fill the twelve spots in the tournament.
The national tournament seedings will be announced on Wednesday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. EST on the NJCAA Network. More information can be found here.
